Heating season has arrived for most of us. It's time to check your equipment and make sure they are in peak operating condition. There are too many types of systems to cover in one article, so we will break them up into a series, covering each type, one by one. The most popular are probably gas-fired units, so we will dedicate one article just for gas. The same will apply to other fuel sources, oil, electric, heat pumps, etc. We will cover each in an in-depth discussion of the principles and operation and how to ensure your unit is operating safely, efficiently, and how to avoid pitfalls when dealing with repair and maintenance issues. Heating and cooling can be provided via forced air or water in most cases, so we will cover those in general, providing the basic information you will need to perform common procedures that will operate as intended. We will start publishing these article Wednesday evening (16th) so be sure to check back. We have a LOT of things to cover. We have only a few authors contributing so far, so please be patient. You're going to get the best information available from engineers with centuries of combined experience, so get ready, and make sure your printer has plenty of ink and paper. See you again soon, The Staff.
