The Greenhouse Coalition site began as a simple vehicle for distributing various devices used in homes and commercial establishments to save energy, promote healthy living atmospheres and reduce the detrimental effect that human activities have on our environment. It soon became apparent that a more comprehensive forum should be developed. The forum would provide accurate and unbiased information dealing with these subjects. It would be free and open to all who shared our concerns. The founders believe that the free dissemination of information benefitting many was more important than a commercial enterprise benefitting a few.
With few exceptions, we are concerned with the need to reduce our carbon footprint and our impact on the planet. Collectively, we must make an effort to reduce our energy consumption, eliminate the harmful by-products produced as a result of our energy consumption, and reverse the damage we have wrought upon our planet. Another major issue concerns the negative impact on our physical health created by our current lifestyle.
In light of the situation we have created for ourselves and the need to eliminate the associated hazards, it is imperative that we recognize the need for change if we are to survive. How we, as individuals, choose avenues of pursuit of these goals will be facilitated by the Greenhouse Coalition, hereinafter called Greenhouse.
Greenhouse will educate. We will make the tools and devices available that will allow individuals to achieve their personal goals. in conjunction with various government programs already in place helping to alleviate the cost of many systems through grants and tax incentives. Greenhouse will help provide access to these resources. We will use these resources to develop programs to facilitate the implementation of “green” concepts. Comprehensive instructional documents will be available on the site, as well as instructional videos. The Greenhouse Engineering community will be available to answer questions and provide direction on dedicated pages.
We will employ. Our jobs and opportunities pages will connect employers and employees. Educational and job training facilities are encouraged to freely post on the pages as well. Job seekers can post resumes. Entrepreneurs, inventors and investors are invited to participate. We will provide a forum for the free exchange of inventions and ideas. The Greenhouse Engineering community can provide assistance with initial concepts, marketing and patents. Links to pertinent organizations are available on the website.
The Greenhouse Coalition is a non- profit organization. Our goal is to disseminate accurate, cutting-edge information and technologies. Use of the site and the ideas and concepts found therein are free. Equipment and devices offered by private manufacturers and distributors appearing within the site pages may available for purchase. Greenhouse makes no claim to the suitability of such materials except where specifically noted. Greenhouse will make every effort to ensure products offered on our site are legitimate, high quality items carrying approval by appropriate government regulating agencies pertaining to safety and environmental suitability. Any manufacturer or supplier listed on our site will also carry the Greenhouse rating. This rating will be signified by our copyrighted logo depicting the image of a house with a branch containing five leaves. Ratings applied to the aforementioned organizations or devices will earn a rating from 1 to 5 leaves, one leaf indicating least desirable, and five leaves indicating our highest rating. Ratings are determined by five criteria. They include effectiveness, efficiency, impact on the environment, price and user friendliness. Ratings are determined by an independent, neutral panel. More detailed information can be obtained via e-mail inquiry, a facility prominently displayed on the website.
The site will serve homeowners, contractors, entrepreneurs and established businesses. Wherever possible, staff members at Greenhouse will be volunteers. There will be unavoidable expenses incurred through the operation of the site. Hopefully the site will generate sufficient revenues to ensure a viable and continued presence. Please join us in this endeavor. We need your help to be successful. We are in our beginning stages of development, so please be patient while we continue to add features and content to the site. (The founders are experienced in energy, not websites, so expect some broken links etc.) This is a grand undertaking and requires input from all walks of life. We all have a job with Greenhouse, and we have an immediate need for more input from our members. Contractors, engineers, homeowners, or anyone with an interest in energy conservation are invited to contribute ideas, suggestions, or just ask questions. Please consider contributing to our efforts. Until we have established our web presence and worked out the "bugs", please send any communications to Thomas May: t This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
